Music, art, mayhem...and not necessarily in that order! 'Apparatjik World' chronicles the many adventures of multi-discipinary artist-collective and sometimes super-group Apparatjik. Formed in 2009 by Guy Berryman (Coldplay), Jonas Bjerre (Mew), Magne Furuholmen (a-ha) and Martin Terefe (Grammy-winning record producer), the hard-to-pin-down collective operates in the gaps between art and pop-culture, and employs a distinctive experimental and humorous approach. This rich, colorful coffee-table book documents their projects from large-scale concerts to site specific installations / interventions inside the national galleries of Germany, Norway, and Denmark, to The Serpentine Gallery in the UK, and a host of rather more exotic places. Parading as a lost gang of inter-dimensional renegades dressed in silver 'disco combat' outfits with deer-antlers and pink gas-masks, Apparatjik borrows shamelessly from art- and music-history to produce a kaleidoscopic, maximalistic adventure into the twisted communal mind of some celebrated pop-cultural figures of the last decades'. A lot of the material is produced by or in collaboration with other well known artists and curators, as well as Apparatjik followers on- and off-line, and the texts range from hilariously entertaining interviews to far-out academic essays by leading cosmologist and M.I.T. professor, Max Tegmark. What is Apparatjik? All we know is that it is definitely not a hair dryer.
